AHMEDABAD: 87 packets of hashish have been recovered after they washed up on beaches in Gujarat's Kutch and Porbandar districts over the past few days, the latest in a series of such seizures in the state, police said on Monday.

He said that in the last three days, 81 packets of hashish worth more than Rs 40 crore were recovered in Kutch district, out of which 40 packets were recovered on Monday alone.

Separately, police in Porbandar on Monday recovered half a dozen packets of cannabis from the coastal village Odadar.

Over 200 packets of narcotics have been found ashore in the coastal districts of Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Porbandar in the last few days as police intensified operations to search for them using drones and human intelligence.

Police on Monday recovered 40 packets of charas from near the sea beach in Mandvi taluka of Kutch district.

Kutch (West) Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahendra Bagadia said that with this, the number of charas packets found from areas like Nal Sarovar, Jakhau and Mandvi in ​​the last three days has increased to 81 and their value is estimated to be Rs 40 crore. Have an estimate. ,

A few days ago, Kutch Police had also recovered unclaimed packets containing banned drug methamphetamine.

Police said the packets containing the drugs were washed ashore with the waves due to favorable wind conditions after being thrown into the deep sea by smugglers out of fear of being caught.

Following the latest recovery, the police have registered an offense under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against unidentified persons.

Devbhoomi Dwarka police on Sunday said 115 packets containing 124 kg of hashish worth Rs 62 crore were found on the beach in the district in ten days.
