Pune: A video of IAS officer Pooja Khedkar's mother threatening some people with a gun has gone viral, adding to the troubles of the controversial bureaucrat.

In the evening, a Pune rural police official said an investigation would be launched to find out the facts, including whether he had a gun license.

The 2023 batch IAS officer is accused of presenting herself as an OBC non-creamy layer candidate in her UPSC candidature. She also claimed that she was visually and mentally handicapped but refused to undergo tests to confirm her claims.

An official said the incident in the video is about a land purchased by Pooja's father Dilip Khedkar, a retired Maharashtra government official, in Dhadwali village in Pune's Mulshi tehsil.

Local people had claimed that the Khedkars had encroached upon the land of neighboring farmers.

In the two-minute video, Pooja Khedkar's mother Manorama Khedkar is seen having a heated argument with the neighbors along with her security guards.

Manorama Khedkar can be seen shouting at a man with a pistol in his hand. She walks up to him and waves the gun in his face before hiding it in her hand.

A senior Pune rural police officer said, "We have taken cognizance of the video being circulated on social media platforms. We will launch an investigation once the facts are known. We will investigate whether Manorama Khedkar has a gun license or not "

Regarding the incident, farmer Kuldeep Pasalkar claimed that Manorama Khedkar was forcefully trying to grab his land.

Pasalkar alleged, "She is also threatening other farmers. She came to my plot with some security guards and started threatening us with a gun in her hand."
