Akola (Maharashtra) [India], Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has come under criticism after a video surfaced on social media, in which a party worker is seen washing his dirty feet.

On this incident, Bharatiya Janata Party has raised questions on the 'culture' of Congress.

The incident occurred on Monday when Patole was on a tour of Akola district and attended an event in Wadegaon. After this he saw the palanquin of Saint Gajanan Maharaj.

Patole had apparently waded through the mud at Nanasaheb Chincholkar Vidyalaya, where people had stopped for 'Palkhi Darshan'. A man was seen washing dirt from the Congress leader's feet while returning to his car. A purported video of the incident soon surfaced on social media.

Addressing a press conference today, the Maharashtra Congress chief said, "...I am not hiding yesterday's incident. The worker was pouring water (on my feet). There was no tap - 'tap in every house' ''Water in every house'' house, otherwise I would use tap water...”

On the official handle of BJP Mumbai, the workers got their feet washed when they were dirty. "Is this the culture of Congress?"

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala termed this action as 'Nawabi feudal prince' mentality of Congress and demanded that the party and Patole himself should apologise.

"There is a Nawabi feudal prince mentality in Congress. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole got his feet washed by a party worker in Akola. They treat the public and workers like slaves and treat themselves like kings and queens. Kalpana Do how they are coming to power, without knowing how they are." Behave well with the public, Nana Patole should apologize and Congress should also apologize for coming to power by mistake.
