Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], Focusing on controlling drug supply at 'Point of Sale' as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police on Wednesday continued its anti-drug crackdown for the fourth consecutive day and Large scale raids were conducted. As per the instructions of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the operation was conducted simultaneously in the entire state from 11 am to 3 pm.

Special law and order DGP Arpit Shukla said he is personally monitoring the state-level operation.

He said that after careful data analysis by the Punjab Police, a list of active drug hotspots was handed over to all the district police chiefs in the state.

He said that CPs/SSPs have been asked to personally monitor this massive operation and plan carefully by identifying 10 top drug hotspots – points of sale of drugs and psychotropic substances in their respective districts or certain areas. Which have become shelter/safe havens.drug traffickers.

He said that police teams under the supervision of an SP rank officer were sent to cordon off and search such areas, while proper investigation of suspected persons and thorough search of houses was done by the police force with the help of sniffer dogs. . Operation.

The Special DGP said that more than 250 police teams comprising more than 2500 police personnel have cordoned off more than 280 drug hotspots. He said that during the operation, the police arrested 43 people and registered 31 First Information Reports (FIRs).

Meanwhile, such large-scale operations not only help in creating fear among anti-social elements but also increase public confidence and increase police presence in the area.
