Chandigarh, Senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday asked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to resign on moral grounds following AAP's defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying the people of the state rejected the Arvind Kejriwal-led party in a period of just two years.

Congress dealt a blow to the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP and SAD by winning seven of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, while two independent candidates registered surprise victories.

While AAP won three seats, Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could win only one seat and the BJP did not get a single seat in the border state.

Addressing the media on Wednesday evening, Bajwa said the election results are a mandate not only against the BJP at the Center but also against AAP in Punjab.

He said that out of the five cabinet ministers fielded by AAP, four lost the elections.

Bajwa said, "Today I want to request Bhagwant Mann that your party always talks about principles and morality. If you understand morality even a little, then it is time that you resign and join someone else." Let more come.”

In response to a question, Bajwa said that it seems that the Chief Minister will be changed in a few weeks.

Bajwa further said that Congress took the right decision of not forming any alliance with AAP in Punjab.

“People have clearly said (in the elections) that their choice is Congress,” he said.

Referring to the Lok Sabha election results, Waring said, people have rejected AAP in just 26 months.

"This is a clear message from the people to the ruling party (AAP), which says we have rejected you," Waring said. Election.
