Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Three men suspected of transporting ganja (marijuana) from Orrisa were arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday morning, police said.

The arrest was a joint action by the Crisis Response Team and Expressway Police. They said around 60 kg of ganja worth Rs 30 lakh was seized.

The arrested accused were involved in supplying contraband in and around Delhi NCR region, they added.

According to Shakti Mohan Awasthi of DCP (Crime), the accused used to bring the marijuana by bus and supply it in packets.

"The three smugglers also have criminal records," he said.

The police are also collecting information about the association to which the smugglers belong.

Earlier, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested a wanted and rewarded drug supplier identified as Chitrasen Pardia, a resident of Odisha's Ganjam district, on June 27.

During the search for the rewarded criminals, the police said, "Secret information was received about a reward criminal named Chitrasen Parida, that the accused has been living in Ganjam district of Odisha and changes his location frequently."

The police further added, “The same was verified by the concerned police station and the court and it was found that the above mentioned accused Chitrasen Parida was wanted in the case u/s 20/25/29 NDPS Act and 174A. IPC, PS Pandav Nagar, New Delhi, and has also been declared absconding by the Hon'ble Court of ASJ-02, Special Judge (NDPS), KKD Courts dated 25/02/2002."

The police further added that surveillance was mounted to track the movements of the accused. For the same, a team was sent to Odisha and after relentless pursuit, based on information, they arrested Parida in the above case.

According to the police, Parida was arrested after diligent technical and field work carried out by HC Sandeep Kumar.

Parida had started supplying macro substances in different places in India. He was also arrested in 2022 by STF Bhubneshwar, who seized property worth Rs 2 crore from him. He has also been arrested in the past by the Gujarat Police.
