“I strongly condemn this act. The murderer was immediately arrested. This is not a matter of love jihad. The government will ensure that the killer is given strict punishment,” the Chief Minister told media persons in Mysuru.

He said that using someone's death for political reasons is unfortunate.

“The matter is being unnecessarily politicized. The protests will have no impact on the government,” the chief minister said.

Neha, daughter of a Congress councilor in Hubli, was stabbed to death by Faiyaz Kondikoppa inside the college premises in Hubli city on Friday.

However, other students caught Faiyaz and handed him over to the police.

Meanwhile, Neha's parents claimed that their daughter's murder was a case of "love jihad".

Neha's father Niranjan Hiremath has warned that his entire family will commit suicide if the investigation is misled and botched.
