New Delhi, a private hospital has announced the launch of South Asia's first Gamma Knife Esprit, making significant progress in the non-surgical treatment of brain tumors with minimal impact on healthy tissues.

This announcement was made by Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) on Thursday.

The Gamma Knife Esprit uses computer-guided precision to deliver radiation therapy in a single session, significantly reducing treatment time compared to traditional methods, the statement said.

It added that this technology is important for treating conditions such as multiple brain metastases, meningiomas and pituitary adenomas, ensuring faster recovery and preserving neurological functions.

It said the launch ceremony, attended by Sweden's Ambassador to India Jan Thesleff, underlined the collaborative efforts between Swedish innovation and Indian healthcare excellence, promoting access to cutting-edge medical treatments across the region.
