A case has been registered against two people for kidnapping a 45-year-old man for ransom in Thane, Navi Mumbai. Police gave this information on Monday.

Based on a complaint, Vashi police on Sunday booked alleged accused Santosh Rohidas Rathod alias Bablu and Charan Rathod, residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, under section 364A of the Indian Penal Code (kidnapping for ransom), an official said. Case registered under.

The victim, Sachin Rathod, left home on Saturday night to meet his friend Santosh and was accompanied by two other people. He told that on Sunday morning his wife got a call, during which Sachin asked her to arrange Rs 5 crore.

In subsequent calls, the ransom demand increased to Rs 10 crore and the wife approached the police with a complaint, the officer said.

He said efforts are on to trace the whereabouts of the victim and the police are also investigating the involvement of the alleged accused in his disappearance.
