New Delhi [India], Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested an alleged kingpin of an interstate firearms racket in Sonia Vihar in the national capital and recovered three semi-automatic pistols from his possession. The arrested person has been identified as 34-year-old Dayal Singh. Based on specific information, Gandh Das Dawar, a resident of Burhanpur, a member of the arms syndicate, was arrested on February 3, according to DCP Pratiksha Godara of Special Cell, resident of Pachauri in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district, police said. 20 illegal firearms were recovered from his possession. A case in this regard was registered in Delhi Police Station Special Cell under Section 25 (8) of the Arms (Amendment) Act.During interrogation, Dawar revealed that he had received a recovered consignment of illegal weapons. Arms from Dayal Singh and were to be supplied to one of his contacts in Delhi. Attempts were made to arrest Dayal Singh, but he evaded arrest during raids conducted at his locations in Madhya Pradesh. Specific information was received on 18 April. Singh would come to Soni Vihar, Delhi to supply illegal firearms to one of his contacts, accordingly, a trap was laid near Sonia Vihar and accused Singh was caught and arrested.According to police, three semi-automatic pistols were recovered from his possession. Police said that during interrogation, Singh revealed that he was involved in manufacturing of illegal firearms for the last 6-7 years in his native village in MP. He had learned this skill of manufacturing firearms from his ancestors, who used to make them. He used to supply illegal weapons to various parts of the country including Delhi for the last few years. Singh revealed that he had supplied 20 illegal firearms, which were recovered from the possession of Gandhi Das Dawar, accused in the present case.Police said. During interrogation, Singh revealed that he used to make illegal weapons using the furnace located at his residence. Police said that a pistol costs around Rs 1,800-2,000, and he sells it at around Rs 5,000 per piece.
