From historic gardens like Shalimar Bagh and Qudsia Bagh in New Delhi, to new gardens in the national capital like Sundar Nursery and Garden of Five Senses, a new book discusses the history, flora and form of these gardens.

Published by Niyogi Books and written by sister-duo Swapna and Madhulika Liddle, "Gardens of Delhi" showcases the city's green spaces through the lens of Prabhas Row and includes several historical tidbits and anecdotes about Delhi.

"Even if you are a regular visitor to Delhi's many gardens, this book can help you see them differently by providing insights on their history, landscape and horticulture. For those who have not visited these green spaces 'Garden O Delhi' is just a thing to woo, or provide entertainment or information to the chair passengers, Swapna Liddle said in a statement.

Often called the "Garden City", Delhi has relatively high green cover and manned public gardens, some of which have a long and interesting history dating back several centuries.While others are relatively new, they are still significant, whether for their design and the diversity of plants, or for the events behind their founding.

The book explores many of Delhi's gardens, introducing readers to their history, flora and fauna.
