New Delhi: In view of the extreme heat conditions, the Railway Board has asked all its zones and production units to provide insulated water bottles of two liter capacity to the track maintainers.

A letter written by the board to all zones and production units said, "In view of the upcoming summer conditions across the country, the Directorate of Civil Engineering has issued instructions regarding provision of water bottles to the eligible categories of employees." Request to repeat."

It says water bottles should be of two liter capacity, with "proper thermal insulation so that water can be kept cold for five to six hours".

All India Railway Track Maintainers Union (AIRTU) has welcomed the decision. However, it said that the letter was issued on April 9 but the distribution of water bottles has not started yet.

Satish Yadav, general secretary, AIRTU, Western Railway, said, “I request the authorities concerned to start providing good quality water bottles as soon as possible as the summer conditions are worsening day by day. "

He said that the Railways used to provide these water bottles every year at the beginning of summer. However, this practice was discontinued as of 2018. “Now, after a gap of six years, it has started once again which is good for us,” Yadav said.
