Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Officials of DRI Mumbai Zonal Unit seized contraband weighing 5.34 kg, worth Rs. Rs 5 crore and one person were arrested at the Mumbai International Airport on Tuesday, DRI Mumbai said in a press note.

DRI Mumbai said, "Based on specific intelligence, on July 1, 2024, officials of DRI Mumbai Zonal Unit identified an Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok at Mumbai International Airport, who was found carrying a contraband in hand luggage. Suspicion was raised. Systematic search of the bags revealed that there were 9 vacuum-packed silver colored packets with different fruit markings on each bag.

DRI Mumbai said the passenger was arrested for possession of ganja and sent to judicial custody.

DRI Mumbai said, "Also, a green colored substance in the form of lumps was recovered from all the 9 packets, which when tested with the field NDPS testing kit, gave a positive result for ganja. Green in the form of lumps." The colored substance weighing 5.34 kg, valued at Rs 5 crore, has been seized and the passenger has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
