Washington [USA], Taylor Swift recently wowed her fans with her performance at the Dublin Eras Tour stop. She opened up about the inspiration behind her 2020 album 'Folklore,' People reported.

During her Eras Tour stop in Dublin, she talked about how she developed the fictional story of her fantasy-inspired pandemic-era album and shared that Ireland played an important role in the setting of the story.

"Folklore in general belongs to Ireland," she told the crowd after finishing her performance of 'Cardigan' during her second night at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.

"The way I imagined the world of the album was like Ireland. Telling stories with a lot of different characters," Swift added, referring to the stories on the album. "You guys have that under control too. That narrative is very Irish."

According to the singer, Folklore was an opportunity for her to try a "different" songwriting style that she had not explored before, which included more linear stories and characters who "fall in love and have their hearts broken." Swift also shared that for once she was able to act as a narrator, instead of sharing her personal feelings and experiences.

"When I was making this album, two days into the pandemic I started Folklore, I wasn't in Ireland. So I had to create an album where the imaginary world that I intended to go to every day while I was writing it... I have to be honest, it seemed a little like Ireland," the Grammy winner told the crowd.

"So we're back where we belong!" Swift added, before preparing to begin her song "Betty," yet another story-based character from her album. "Folklore belongs to you."

The singer's first night in Dublin on Friday was also full of Irish pride: during her performance of 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,' her dancer Kameron Saunders, 31, spoke some Irish (a continuation of the tradition of Swift to give each Eras The tour's host country an acknowledgment in their native language).

Swift's three Dublin concerts are her first since her two-night stand in Croke Park for the Reputation Stadium Tour, when she made her Irish stadium debut. On those 2018 concert dates, the singer adoringly greeted the crowd as “so loving” and “amazing,” and shared a bouquet of flowers from Irish band U2, who wrote the accompanying letter, “Your Irish Fan Club ".

However, Swift has visited the country at least once between her two big tours. While she was in Belfast in 2021 to support her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn as he finished filming Conversations with Friends, the singer took selfies with many waitresses from nearby restaurants.

Following her three nights in Dublin, Swift will take the Eras Tour to Amsterdam and then to several other cities in Europe. She will close out the European leg of the tour with five more shows in London in August, People reported.
