Srinagar, Apni Party on Monday extended its support to People's Conference chief Sajjad Lone, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from North Kashmir's Baramulla constituency.

Party chief Altaf Bukhari announced support for Lone during a press conference, days after Lone had sought his help to consolidate anti-National Conference votes in the constituency.

Lone is contesting against Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference and former chief minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state.

"We have fielded candidates from two constituencies - Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri. We have not fielded any candidate from North Kashmir and I am happy to announce that we will field the Lone-led People's Conference there," Bukhari said. Will support."

Lone on Saturday sought support from his party to consolidate anti-NC votes in north Kashmir and claimed that it benefits from dispersion of votes.

Lone had said, "I appeal to Altaf Bukhari, let us stop division of votes in North Kashmir and let him support us there."

The People's Conference chief, in turn, had also assured 100 percent support to his party in Srinagar.

Baramulla will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20 while Srinagar will go to polls in the fourth phase on May 13.
