Jammu: Three people were injured in an explosion in an open field in Jammu and Kashmir's Samb district on Monday. The officers provided this information.

It is suspected that the explosion was caused by a rusty mortar shell catching fire.

Officials said the blast occurred when some farmers were burning crop residue in their fields in Khara Madhana village at around 8.15 pm.

He said three people were injured in the blast and were taken to hospital.

He said police and forensic experts immediately reached the spot and preliminary investigation revealed that the fire might have been caused by the explosion of a rusty mortar shell.

Mortar shells have been recovered from the fields earlier also.
