Gandoh (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: A terrorist has been killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Gandoh area of ​​Doda in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, a top police officer said.

"One terrorist has been neutralized. ADG Jammu Zone @AnandJanips is on the spot along with DIG Doda and SSP Doda. Details awaited," ADGP Jammu said in a post on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, J&K Police and security forces conducted a joint operation in Bhaderwah sector of Doda district, the ADGP said in another tweet.

On June 19, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Baramulla district.

Since June 9, there have been terrorist attacks in Reasi, Kathua and Doda in which nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were killed. One civilian and at least seven security personnel were also injured.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and directed all security agencies to "work in mission mode and ensure prompt response in a coordinated manner".

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following a series of terrorism-related incidents.

The meeting, attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials, was aimed at assessing the current security scenario in the region.
