Jabalpur: A 16-year-old girl studying in class 11 in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district was allegedly stabbed to death by a man living in her neighborhood on Thursday.
The reason for the attack is not yet known.
City Superintendent of Police (Bagdi) Sunil Nema told reporters that at around 1.30 pm in Kulon village, Yashwant Patel alias Ishu (aged about 21 years) entered the house of Riya Patel and stabbed her twice with a knife.
This village is located about 45 km from here.
The official said the accused later fled from the scene and teams have been formed to nab him.
Regarding the reason for the murder, Nema said that investigation is underway.
He said that a First Information Report has been filed against Yashwant under Section 103 (1) of the Indian Justice Code which relates to the crime of murder.
