BJP won eight seats while AIMIM retained seven seats. Congress's ally CPI was victorious in one constituency.BRS's sitting MLA Lasya Nandita from Secunderabad Cantonment died in a road accident in February, necessitating the by-election along with the Lok Sabha elections.

BRS also lost its two sitting MLAs to Congress. One of them, D. Nagendra, is contesting as a Congress candidate from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, where Union Minister and State BJP President G. Kishan Reddy is contesting elections again.
