The finance officer of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University in Thane, Raigarh, was arrested on Friday for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe, an Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Shashikant Padve said Omkar Ambparkar (55), a finance officer of the university located at Lonore in Mangaon, was arrested for allegedly taking bribe.

"He had demanded Rs 1 lakh as bribe to clear the bills of a contractor totaling Rs 58 lakh. He then reduced the amount to Rs 81,000," the officer said. During the trap laid by the ACB at the university He was captured."

Deputy SP said that a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is going on against the first class officer.
