The film centers on Saro Mammoliti, a Calabrian mafia boss who kidnaps petroleum industrialist Jean Paul Getty – grandson of the founder of the company Getty Oi. When Saro falls in love with his victim's mother (Holmes) during a ransom negotiation, he puts his entire organization in danger.
Talking about the project, Manasvi, who won the title of Miss India World 2010, said: “Bringing Captivated to life has been an extremely personal and emotional journey. We are committed to portraying the untold layers of this historical event, shedding light on the emotional complexities and unheard voices. The film will impress audiences by presenting a fresh and compelling perspective.
'Captured' is directed by Dito Montiel, who wrote the screenplay with Robbie Shushan and Michael Mammoliti, nephew of Saro Mammoliti. The story of the film was recently launched in the Cannes market. Principal photography on the film is scheduled to begin in Italy later this winter.
IFT and 32RED Entertainment are financing the film along with Sugar Juice Pictures.
