Nagaland Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhautuonuo Kruse, received the award at the 15th Agriculture Leadership Conclave held in New Delhi on Wednesday night.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were present on the occasion.

The annual awards were started in 2008 to recognize excellence and leadership roles played by individuals and organizations towards the development of agriculture and bringing rural prosperity.

Nagaland has achieved GI (Geographical Indication) registration of three horticulture crops, Naga Tree Tomato and Naga Sweet Cucumber.

According to officials, the horticulture department has also formed 13 farmer producer companies (FPCs) and so far 6800 hectares of area has been brought under organic certification.
