New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday restricted vehicular movement at Okhla underpass due to waterlogging and asked commuters to plan their journey accordingly.

The step has been taken after a 60-year-old man drowned in an underpass on Saturday. The national capital received heavy rains on Friday and Saturday, causing waterlogging and heavy traffic jams in many parts of the city.

In a post on X, the traffic police said, "Traffic movement is restricted at Okhla underpass due to waterlogging. Please plan your travel accordingly."

The closure of the underpass caused inconvenience to regular commuters, increasing their travel time.

Sonu Gupta told ideologues, "I have been going through this route for some time but have never seen it filled with water. The road above the underpass is also closed. I was going for some work near Crown Plaza. Now I have to "Another route must be taken."

Rajesh Kumar, another commuter, said he was looking for an alternative route after being stuck in the traffic jam near the underpass for several hours on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, a video showing water flowing from a moat in the Red Fort complex has been widely circulated on social media.
