The 66-year-old actor appeared on a recent episode of 'Our Way with Paul Anka n Skip Bronson' podcast to talk about his life and career, reports 'People Magazine'.

When asked if he drank alcohol, he admitted, "I don't discuss it much." "I discuss it whenever it makes sense. I'm 39 years old. I got sober on February 23, 1985."

According to People, Baldwin recalled moving from his native New York City to Los Angeles in 1983, telling hosts Anka and Bronson, "I had a serious problem every day for two years. I think I started doing cocaine. Had snorted a line from "Here's Saturn."

He and his friends in Hollywood, he said, "did a study on the rings of Saturn, we came home
, I mean, cocaine was like coffee at that time, everyone was doing it all day."

Then, he said, “Because I stopped doing drugs, my drinking increased, which tells you that's going to happen. And that's what happened. I've just started drinking".

Although he keeps his sobriety journey largely private, Baldwin details several such experiences in his 2017 memoir 'Still.' "I'm glad I got sober, because a lot of people don't get sober when they're young," he told Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos at the time.

He went on to say that in his 20s, when he was "doing a lot of drugs" there was really a lot of pain.

Explaining how he stays calm, he said, "I try to meditate".

He said the job has not been without its challenges, considering he has children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, at home in New York.

“Meditating with seven children is like trying to play ping pong on the deck of an aircraft carrier. It's really a pain, man”, he added.
