Sultanpur (UP), A Home Guard jawan who was on election duty here died, police said on Friday.
Police said that on Thursday, Pawan Kumar's health suddenly deteriorated under suspicious circumstances.
Station in-charge (SHO) Satendra Kumar Singh said that when his health deteriorated, the home guard jawan was taken to the district hospital, but the doctor declared him dead.
Police station in-charge Singh said that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem and his family has been informed.
According to the police, Pawan Kumar (48) was a resident of Meerut district.
Along with a group of security personnel, he was deployed at a polling booth here and was temporarily staying in a private school on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway under Kotwali Dehat police station area, he said.
Voting will be held on this Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh in the sixth phase of elections on Saturday.
