Hundreds of supporters of the former minister protested and had a heated argument with revenue officials who were measuring the assets.

Police officials are to submit a report regarding the seizure of properties of Amarmani Tripathi in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Basti, Pramod Giri, on April 15.

The action pertains to a 23-year-old case of kidnapping of Rahu Gupta, a schoolboy in Basti in 2002. The kidnapped child was found in a house in Lucknow which belonged to the then minister Tripathi.

Basti's MP MLA Court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Amarman Tripathi on 16 October 2022 and later on 22 March 2023, Allahabad High Court had rejected his application to cancel the non-bailable warrant and stop the seizure process. ,

Earlier on March 20 this year, Basti police officials had sought more time to recover two properties of Amarmani: one in Nautanwa town in Maharajganj district and the other in Vibhuti Khand, Lucknow, and the CJM court granted 10 days. And had given instructions to Uttar Pradesh. The Director General of Police and the State Home Secretary should ensure that the properties are seized by April 15.
