Bagas Asrama, head of the operations unit of the provincial search and rescue office, said 280 miners, their family members and vendors survived Saturday night's disaster, Xinhua news agency reported.

"Some bodies under the soil were recently found, two excavators are assisting in the search operation," he told Xinhua.

He said Friday's clear weather also helped rescue workers in their efforts.

Heavy rains caused landslides and flash floods, which affected the camps and washed them away.
