Guwahati: 'Yaba' tablets worth around Rs 30 crore have been seized in Assam's Karimganj district and two smugglers have been arrested, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

According to Karimganj SP Partha Protim Das, a police team stopped a vehicle coming from the neighboring state of Mizoram on Wednesday night after receiving specific information about the movement of a drug consignment.

"An anti-narcotics operation was launched in Gandharajabari area under Ratabari police station. After a thorough search of the vehicle, 1,00,000 yaba pills were recovered from a special compartment inside the petrol tank," Das said.

He said the market value of the drug is estimated to be around Rs 30 crore.

The SP said that two people carrying the consignment from Champhai in Mizoram were arrested and legal action has been initiated against them.
