Cuddapah (Andhra Pradesh), Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila on Saturday filed his nomination for the Cuddapah Lok Sabha seat.
Sharmila was also accompanied by her cousin Sunita Nareddy, daughter of Y Vivekananda Reddy, who was murdered ahead of the 2019 elections.
“Filed nomination as Kadapa MP candidate. The people of Kadapa did not forget Y Rajasekhara Reddy and Vivekananda. We are confident that they will vote keeping them in mind this time,” Sharmila said while addressing a press conference.
Before filing her nomination, Sharmila offered prayers at the grave of her father Rajasekhara Reddy at Idupulupaya.
As the Congress candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, she will take on her cousin YS Avinash Reddy from the ruling YSRCP, run by his elder brother and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Elections for 25 Lok Sabha seats of Andhra Pradesh are to be held on May 13.
