Shimla, criticizing Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut's comments that people should come with their Aadhaar cards to meet her, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday said public representatives should meet with all sectors of people without identity documents.

The state public works minister said anyone from anywhere in Himachal Pradesh can meet him.

Ranaut had recently said that due to the strong tourist presence in the state, people should bring Aadhaar cards that can identify them as people from her constituency to meet her.

A video of the BJP MP's comments has surfaced online.

Responding to his comments, Congress Minister Singh said, "We are representatives of the people and it is our responsibility to meet people from all sections."

"Whether it is a small or big job, a political matter or an individual matter, it does not require any identity document. If people come to meet public representatives, they come for some work and say that they need this document or that is not right ", he claimed.

"Anyone from any part of the state can come and meet me," Singh added.

In a video, Ranaut is seen addressing journalists gathered at her newly opened office in Mandi Sadar area.

"As you all know, a large number of tourists visit Himachal, so it is necessary to bring Aadhaar from Mandi Parliament constituency to meet me," she said.

The reason for the visit and the matter should also be stated in a letter so that there are no inconveniences, the BJP leader added.

Ranaut said people are free to raise any issue with her, but if people come with issues from Mandi parliamentary constituency that need the attention of the central government, such as formulating new policies, then she is "the voice of the people of Mandi in Parliament".

Ranaut and Singh recently contested the Mandi Lok Sabha elections, which the actor-politician won.
