A landslide in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh caused by incessant rains over the past few days led to the collapse of a portion of National Highway-313, disrupting traffic. An official gave this information on Thursday.

Surface communications to Dibang Valley district in the northeastern state were cut off after a section of the vital highway connecting Roing to Anini in the lower Diban Valley was damaged.

He said the road between Dibang Valley district headquarters Hunli and Anini was damaged due to a landslide on Wednesday night.

“The district administration has deployed workers and adequate machinery to repair the road on a war footing. It will take a few days to restore traffic movement,” said Anini additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Dhurbajyoti Bora.

However, he said efforts were being made to allow small vehicles to ply on the road by Thursday evening.
