New Delhi [India], Union Health Secretary Apoorva Chandra, who was the Chairman of Committee A of the 77th World Health Assembly, delivered closing remarks at the Plenary Session in Geneva yesterday.

Presenting his report on the work of Committee A over the past 6 days, he highlighted the intense agenda with the intense discussions in the Assembly, culminating in decisions that will shape the future of global health.

The Union Health Secretary said Committee A dealt with the Fourteenth Common Action Programme, 2025-2028, the first in this new post-Covid era, which set out a strong health agenda for the next four years.

“We debated its resource and sustainable financing, through increased assessment contributions and the WHO Investment Round, to ensure we have the means to achieve our goals. We also commended WHO's extensive work in emergencies And there was a long debate from morning till late.In the evening to consider an unprecedented set of health and technical issues,” he said.

Highlighting the intense, constructive discussions, extended evening sessions, extensive consultations and votes during the brief meeting, the Union Health Secretary said that "We worked hard towards our common goal, finding solutions that meet our agenda in a spirit of understanding.
