New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Monday said India created a world record with the participation of 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, in the Lok Sabha elections this year.

Addressing a press conference, he said that more than 68,000 monitoring teams and 1.5 crore polling and security personnel were involved in the world's largest electoral exercise.

"India set a world record this year with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the Lok Sabha elections," Kumar said.

On social media memes calling election commissioners 'missing gentlemen', Kumar said, "We were always here, never missing."

"Now the memes can say that the 'missing gentleman' is back," he said.
