Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday directed the Haryana government to remove within a week the barricades erected at the Shambhu border near Ambala, where farmers have been camping since February 13 in support of their demands.

The Haryana government had put up barricades on the Ambala-New Delhi National Highway in February after the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced their decision to march towards Delhi in support of various demands, including legal guarantee of MSP. . For crops.

The directions came on a petition filed against sealing the border between Punjab and Haryana.

Speaking to reporters here, Haryana Additional Advocate General Deepak Sabharwal said the court has directed the Haryana government to remove the barricades within seven days.

The court also said that if any law and order situation arises, it can take preventive action as per law.

He said, the Punjab government has also been told that if there is any barricading on their side, it should also be removed.

Sabharwal said that barricades were installed on February 10 to maintain law and order.

SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are leading the 'Delhi Chalo' march of farmers to put pressure on the government to accept their demands.

The farmers have been stuck at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, when security forces stopped their march.

However, the number of farmers camping at the site has gradually declined.
