Panaji, An email about a bomb at South Goa's Dabolim airport on Monday irked authorities, forcing them to beef up security at the complex. A senior officer gave this information.

Airport director SVT Dhanmjay Rao said his office received an email in the morning about a bomb at the airport.

"We are now taking extra precautions. Although security has been increased at the airport, flight operations are unaffected," Rao said.

Goa Police has received a formal complaint from the airport authorities and a bomb disposal squad is searching the area, a police officer said.

"We are leaving no stone unturned. We are working as per the prescribed protocol," he said.

The airport director said they are trying to trace the source of the email which was also addressed to other airports in the country.
