Noida: A dispute between two tenants in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida led to the death of one, police said on Wednesday.

He said that the incident took place in Surajpur area on Tuesday evening.

Additional DCP (Central Noida) Hirdesh Katheria said that according to the police, the victim Shahrukh (22), a resident of Sambhal, was attacked on the head with a stick by another tenant during an argument.

ADCP Katheriya said the accused, who is apparently a minor, was suspected to be in an intoxicated state, which led to the altercation.

“Both the parties are said to be friends or acquaintances who live as tenants in the same house,” the ADCP said.

He said, "Despite being taken to the hospital, Shahrukh could not survive. He died during treatment."

Katheria said that the police have registered the case and taken the accused into custody.

A local official said the police were in the process of confirming the age of the accused before taking appropriate legal action against him.

Police said that further necessary action is being taken.
