A massive fire broke out at a hardware store in a four-storey commercial complex in Manesar, Gurugram on Tuesday afternoon, destroying all the goods. The officers provided this information.

A fire official said a dozen fire engines were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control after a five-hour operation.

He said that there was no report of any casualty or injury in the incident.

According to the police, the fire broke out at around 3 pm in a hardware showroom on the first floor of the complex located in Manesar on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.

The flames soon started spreading and the fire department was informed, police said.

He said that the fire brigade could not control the fire even after an hour and smoke kept coming out.

A senior fire official said that due to the presence of paint, electronics, wood and other inflammable products in the premises, the fire continued to rage for a long time and it took a lot of effort to control the fire.

Finally, after five hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control at around 8 pm, but by then most of the buildings and all the contents of the complex were burnt to ashes.

A senior fire official said the damage caused by the fire could not be assessed yet.
