“There are many reasons for our defeat. Guarantee schemes did not help us much in the elections. The public has decided that our guarantee is not needed. Balakrishna told media persons, I am not in a position to decide whether to continue the guarantee or stop it.

He said that the cabinet will take a decision on whether the guarantee schemes should be continued or not. “People in Bengaluru Rural voted for BJP considering the new face. Leaders like late former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee have also faced defeat.

He said that on the day of counting, PM Modi was also getting a shock in the first few rounds.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Ramnagar Iqbal Hussain said that women voters did not support the party in the Lok Sabha elections.

Congress managed to win only nine out of total 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.
