Mumbai, Actress Manisha Koirala says that when she was recovering from cancer when she was about to start shooting for "Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar", in which she plays one of the lead characters, the opportunity hardly materialized. Sometimes female artists over 50 are found.

The 53-year-old actor is receiving good reviews for her role as mercurial matriarch Mallikajan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series "Hiramandi", streaming on Netflix.

In a long note on Instagram, Koirala on Sunday thanked streamers and viewers for resuming work after battling ovarian cancer, portraying an important character in the gorgeous period drama and getting her due as a female actor. Told about his journey while giving thanks to his evolving taste.

Citing two reasons, she wrote, "I could never have imagined that after cancer and turning 50, my life would reach this second phase."

Describing "Heeramandi" as an important milestone, Koirala said: "As a 53-year-old actor who has got an important role in a high-profile web series, I am very happy to be able to play unimportant peripheral roles. Not tied, thanks to OTT platforms and changing audience profiles.,

She further added, "Finally, women artists, technicians and other professionals have started getting the long-awaited and good quality work and respect in the professional environment. I am fortunate to be a part of this evolving era."

Secondly, he recalled feeling plagued by "doubt and anxiety" before beginning shooting the series amid his recovery from cancer. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and became cancer free in 2014.

Koirala said that a crucial scene in "Hiramandi" required him to remain submerged in a water fountain for more than 12 hours, which tested his flexibility.

"The fountain sequence proved to be the most physically challenging... even though Sanjay had thoughtfully ensured that the water was warm and clean, within a few hours the water turned dirty, (because my team members, cinematographers and art directors The team was getting in the water to work around th scene.)"

He wrote, every pore of his body was drenched in dirty water.

“Even though I was exhausted by the end of the shoot, I still felt a deep joy in my heart.My body had withstood the stress and remained flexible, I knew I had passed an important physical test.
