BENGALURU: Lokayukta officials on Thursday conducted raids at 56 locations across the state and found that 11 government officials and engineers have amassed assets worth Rs 45.14 crore which are disproportionate to their known sources of income, the Lokayukta office said.

In an early morning operation, around 100 officers conducted simultaneous raids in nine districts against government officials allegedly hoarding disproportionate assets (DA).

Superintendents of the districts supervised the raids and conducted searches at 56 places.

The officers who were raided included D Mahadev Bannur, assistant executive engineer of Panchayat Raj Engineering Department in Belagavi, DH Umesh, executive engineer of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited, M S Prabhakar, assistant executive engineer of BESCOM Vigilance Police Station in Davanagere, Belagavi Construction Centre's Project Director Shekhar Gowda is included. Kuradgi, retired PWD chief engineer M Ravindra and PWD chief engineer KG Jagadeesh, a statement issued by the Lokayukta said.

Other officials include retired executive engineer S Shivaraju of rural drinking water and sanitation division Mandya, Harohalli tehsildar Vijayanna in Ramanagara, superintending engineer Mahesh K in the irrigation department, panchayat secretary NM Jagadish and Mahadevapura revenue officer of Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation division Basavaraj Magi.

According to the Lokayukta office, Shekhar Gowda Kuradgi was found to have the highest assets worth Rs 7.88 crore, disproportionate to known sources of income, in the raids conducted on Thursday.

It said that the officers who have DA of more than Rs five crore include Umesh, Ravindra, KG Jagadish and Shivaraju.

Overall, 11 officers were found to have DA worth Rs 45.14 crore, the statement said.
