Gowda, the whistleblower in the sex scandal video case involving JD-SM and Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna, was arrested in Chitradurga district on Friday.

Police said that he has been arrested on charges of sexual harassment and caste abuse.

Leader of Opposition (LOP) R. Ashok said that the arrest of BJP leader Devaraj Gowda is not justified and if things continue like this, the party will protest against the highhandedness of the government.

“He was threatened for not taking the names of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar. The government's attention is focused only on the video scandal. He does not care about farmers and other issues of the state,” Ashok said.

HD Prajwal Revanna's father Revanna has been sent to jail for kidnapping the victim of a sex scandal case.

Devaraj Gowda had held several press conferences and alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar was behind the circulation of thousands of pen drives containing Prajwal Revanna's videos.

Gowda had also alleged that the Congress had offered him a cabinet minister's post for not issuing a statement against the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

He had also released an audio clip of Congress leader L Shivaram Goud being "forced" not to take Shivakumar's name during the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Devaraje Gowda had claimed that he would hand over the evidence to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
