Meerut (UP), Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday mocked the BJ government's claim that the country is ready to become a 'Vishwaguru', asking if this is possible when there is a plan to provide free ration to 80 crore people in the country. needed.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) leader was making an indirect reference to the Prime Minister's Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, under which 80 crore people in the country are given free ration every month.

"Can a country where 80 crore people survive on free ration become a 'Vishwagur (global leader)'," Yadav told reporters here in response to a question.

He also expressed confidence that SP and opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party will be victorious in the Lok Sabha elections.

"SP will register a historic victory in the elections. This time, the victory which is running from the west (part of Uttar Pradesh) is in favor of INDI (block), and will reach the last corner (of the state)," Yadav said.

On the question whether he would contest the Lok Sabha elections, the SP chief said, "Let the date come."

To another question on whether his Meerut visit was due to his love for Dalits, Yadav said, "Netaji (SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav) himself had sent (prominent Dalit leader) Kanshi Ram to the Lok Sabha from Etawah."

S Pramukh said, "This fight is very old and big. This is the fight that Chaudhary Charan Singh once fought. People from all sections of the society respected him."

He also said that this election is an election to save the Constitution and democracy.

"Don't the youth know that they have been cheated? Those who wanted to get permanent jobs are getting satisfaction from the Agniveer scheme and BJ is taking advantage of their poverty and helplessness," Yadav claimed.

He said, "Three black laws were brought for those farmers whose votes were gathered by saying that their income would be doubled."

Voting will be held in the second phase in Meerut parliamentary constituency on April 26.
