Hoshiarpur: The body of Himmat Rai, who was among those killed in the massive fire in Mangaf in southern Kuwait, was brought here on Saturday.

The dead body has been kept in the mortuary of village Singriwala.

The funeral will take place on June 17 as his family is waiting for the arrival of some relatives from abroad.

62-year-old Rai's family lives in Kakkon, a suburb of Hoshiarpur city.

On June 12, 49 people were killed in the fire that broke out in the Al-Mangaf building. Most of these were Indians.

The rest were Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian and Nepalese nationals.

About 195 migrant workers lived in the building in the Mangaf area of ​​southern Kuwait.

Rai, who was the sole breadwinner in his family, is survived by his wife, two married daughters and a minor son.

He left India about 28 to 30 years ago and joined NBTC firm in Kuwait to earn his livelihood. The family told that he was working as a foreman in the construction department of NBTC.
