Several farmer organizations, including Chandigarh, Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, on Sunday took out a march in Mohali in support of the CISF woman constable who allegedly slapped actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut.

Farmer leaders demanded that there should be no injustice to woman constable Kulwinder Kaur, this matter should be investigated impartially.

Adequate security personnel were deployed in view of the march that started from Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali.

Talking to journalists, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that there should be an impartial investigation into the matter.

Emphasizing that it should be found out what led to the incident, Pandher said there should be no injustice to the woman constable.

Farmer leaders also criticized Ranaut for allegedly making inflammatory statements against the people of Punjab.

Kaur was apparently upset with Ranaut's stance on the farmers' protests.CISF, which provides security at airports, has also ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.

Mohali Police has booked Kaur under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Both are bailable offences.

Ranaut, in a video message on Thursday, said the constable attacked and abused her in the face during the security check at Chandigarh airport, the ugly clash two days after she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi. ,

In a video statement titled "Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab" posted on Twitter after she reached Delhi following the incident on Thursday, Ranaut said she was safe and well.

Ranaut had said that the constable came towards her from the side."She hit me on the face and started abusing me. I asked her why she did this and she said she supports the farmers' protests."

“I am safe but my concern is that terrorism and extremism are on the rise in Punjab… how will we handle it?” Ranaut had said.

In another video going viral on social media, an agitated constable is shown talking to people after the incident.

He said in the purported video, “Kangana had (earlier) given a statement that farmers were protesting in Delhi because they were paid Rs 100 or Rs 200. At that time, my mother was one of the protesters."
