Heavy rains on Friday caused mudslides in the Nukut area of ​​Osh Oblast, damaging two bridges, electric poles and flooding 15 courtyards of private houses, Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.

Seven people were swept away in the mud flow. So far five bodies have been recovered and efforts are on to search for the remaining two persons.

The report also said that 1,300 people were trapped in the Abshir-Ata recreation area as the road was washed away due to mudslides.

At present, rescue and search operations are going on.

A state of emergency has been declared due to mud in the Nukkat area.
