According to Sky Sports report, Chelsea informed McKenna and Ipswich Tow of their decision to pursue Enzo and expressed their great admiration for the work he has done with the newly promoted club.

"I think we should expect a decision this week, Chelsea want to sort it out at the beginning of June. Eghbali (co-owner) has been in London for a long time and will be attending the FA Cup final on Saturday. He is going to London very soon, but a decision is expected this week, reports Sky Sports.

The Italian is said to have a release clause of £8-10million at Leicester which Chelsea may have to pay if they are to secure his services.

Maresca emerged as a surprise candidate after joining the likes of Thomas Frank, Xavi, Kieran McKenna and Robert de Zerbi at the club in the past weeks.

Provided there are no breakdowns in negotiations, Maresca is likely to become Chelsea's new head coach as early as next week.

Despite spending heavily in the summer transfer window the team finished sixth in the league. The new manager who projects confidence will inherit a talented, young team and hopefully they can improve this season.
