CHENNAI: Over 2,000 grams of cocaine worth Rs 21 crore was seized from an air passenger who arrived here from Ghana, the Customs Department said on Friday.

The woman, a resident of the West African country, who had arrived on June 26, was stopped by intelligence officials at the international airport here.

In an official release from the Chennai International Airport, Principal Commissioner of Customs, R Srinivas Naik, said that during questioning, narcotics in the form of powder were found concealed in his bag and shoes.

Overall, cocaine weighing 2,095 grams, worth Rs 21 crore, was recovered from the woman under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

He has been arrested and is currently lodged in the Central Jail, Puzhal.
