New Delhi, In a notable political comeback, two-time MP from Bihar and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan took charge as the Food Processing Industries Minister on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old, who cemented his position as the "real" political successor to his late father Ram Vilas Paswan, expressed his commitment to unlocking the huge potential of the food processing sector.

Underscoring the importance of the sector in directly benefiting farmers, Paswan said, "There is huge potential in the food processing sector and a 100-day plan will be prepared after discussions with ministry officials."

He stressed the need to expand processing units across the country in predominantly agricultural dependent areas.

Acknowledging India's lagging performance in food processing, Paswan vowed to make concerted efforts to take the sector to new heights.

"The scope of the ministry depends on the person who is heading it. I have been given an important responsibility because it concerns crores of farmers. I have always talked about the processing units in Hajipur. This will provide better income to the farmers. Will get." He said.

He took charge after a small religious ceremony in the office. Paswan's mother and other family members were present on this occasion.

Paswan's meteoric rise was marked by his party's success in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where it won all five seats allotted to it in the NDA alliance.

This achievement has established him as the new Dalit icon in Bihar politics, overshadowing many experienced politicians.

His joining the Narendra Modi government is seen as a remarkable comeback in the turbulent political landscape of Bihar.
