Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced the establishment of Bhagat Kabir Dham to conduct a comprehensive research on the life and philosophy of Sant Kabir, the doyen of the Bhakti movement.

Addressing a gathering during a state-level function to commemorate the 626th 'parkash utsav' of Sant Kabir, Mann said the 15th century saint and mystic poet had shown people the way of life and added that this 'dham' will be essential for the investigation. in his life.

The life and philosophy of the great mystical poet have always inspired the people to a dignified life, the Prime Minister said.

People must follow the footsteps of Bhagat Kabir to forge a progressive, prosperous and harmonious society, he added.

"The need of the hour is that unity, communal brotherhood and peace be maintained by following the ideals of Bhagat Kabir," Mann said.

Exhorting people to follow the teachings of Bhagat Kabir, the prime minister said it is the need of the hour to forge an egalitarian society, overcoming parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion.

"Bhagat Kabir's life and teachings preached the eternal message of love, peace and harmony contained in his 'bani', which is part of the Guru Granth Sahib," he said.

Although Bhagat Kabir's early life was spent in a Muslim family, he was strongly influenced by the Hindu saint Ramananda, who had a profound impact on his writings during the Bhakti movement, Mann said.

Urging people to emulate the ideals of the great saint, the senior AAP leader said he can play an important role in building a harmonious and progressive society.

The chief minister also said that the state government is making concerted efforts to rejuvenate its health and education systems.

From now on, sending a child to public schools is an obligation for common people. But within six months his desire will be to send his children to public schools, he said.

Schools of Eminence have been created across the state to impart quality education and the healthcare system is being similarly improved, Mann said.

He also lashed out at his political rivals, saying previous dispensations deprived people of quality education and health services to ensure they did not progress.

They only wanted children from poor families to remain at their mercy, the AAP leader alleged.

Instead, Mann said his focus is on empowering poor students by ensuring they get a quality education.

The result is for all to see after 158 public school students passed the coveted JEE for the first time, he said.

This is just the beginning as more such results will be seen in the coming days, for which the government is making strenuous efforts, he added.

The state government is opening eight centers to train students preparing for competitive exams, Mann said.

The prime minister also attacked the opposition parties, saying their leaders do not miss an opportunity to attack him due to his pro-Punjab and development-oriented stances.

His criticisms are irrational and based on his whims, Mann said, adding that this will not deter him from fulfilling his duty.
