A day later, all eyes were on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whether he would rise to the challenge and soften the Congress narrative on the burning issues he raised in Parliament, including agniveers, NEET, Manipur and more .

Given the resurgence of the INDIA bloc in the recent Lok Sabha polls and his apparent success in convincing people to take a blow to the NDA, the odds were in his favour.

However, Prime Minister Modi, in his characteristic style, not only debunked the Congress claims but also cited a couple of short stories and film dialogues to refocus attention on his government, much like what He told BJP MPs on Tuesday morning to "follow the rules" and not deviate from constitutional norms despite "fake" campaigns by the opposition. The Prime Minister also highlighted cases of Congress campaigns, which this latter he allegedly used to sell "lies" about EVM, defense deals like Rafale and other policies like CAA etc.

When Prime Minister Modi rose to respond to the motion of thanks on the President's speech, he was met with continuous heckling and heckling from opposition MPs.

They tried to shout louder than the Prime Minister's response and also tried to drown out his voice by shouting slogans at the top of their voices. But the incessant sloganeering of the Congress-led opposition did not make Prime Minister Modi give in to the pressure, rather he seized the opportunity. to mount a fierce counterattack, citing cinematic dialogue and a couple of stories about "a student who scored 99 points."

Prime Minister Modi, making direct attacks on him during his marathon speech that lasted for two hours, slammed the Congress and its "balak buddhi", mocking the latter.

At the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister recounted the historic achievements of his government and said that it was thanks to its 10-year track record that people voted for the BJP to return to power. He said that the NDA's third term is about to work three times as hard and get three times the results.

“The pain and frustration of some people was understandable as they suffered for the third consecutive term. It was the third worst defeat in the history of the Congress as the party failed to reach the 100-seat mark three times in a row,” PM Modi said.

As the opposition slogans became more strident, Prime Minister Modi spent much of his time mocking Congress and holding it up in the mirror by putting the poll results in perspective and also resorting to storytelling. In the 99 Congress seats, Prime Minister Modi spoke about a student and how he flaunted his achievements while his family and circle held him in high esteem until his class teacher put the right picture in perspective by saying that he scored 99 out of 543 , not 100.

Quoting the famous character 'Mausi' from the cult Bollywood film 'Sholay', Prime Minister Modi said, “The statements of the Congress leaders have surpassed even the film 'Sholay'. Everyone must remember Mausi ji from the movie. Congress says: 'Arey Mausi, we have lost for the third time, but it is a moral victory.' Arey Mausi, we have 0 seats in 13 states, but I am still the hero.”

Although the Prime Minister did not name Rahul Gandhi, the focus of his criticism was on the Congress MP as the grand old party has been crediting him for doubling its tally in the 2024 elections. References of the Prime Minister Modi to 'Sholay' and stories about a boy boasting of 99 marks made the Treasury benches applaud and the Opposition benches become more hostile.

The chanting became so strident that it prompted a rebuke from President Om Birla, who said: "Yesterday I allowed him (Mr. Gandhi) to speak for 90 minutes. No one stopped him. This is no way to behave."

The Speaker also said, "Paanch saal aise nahin chalega (We cannot go on like this for five years)." Prime Minister Modi also cited another story of a boy who sobbed and cried for the “injustices” done to him but never told what what he had done, from insulting his elders to abusing others.

In his more than two-hour speech, Prime Minister Modi attacked the "balak buddhi" (child intelligence), apparently of Rahul Gandhi, without mentioning his name.

On Monday, the House considered "balak vilaap", but this cannot be seen as a mere statement, but was part of a strategy to spread a barrage of lies, the Prime Minister said. “Mr. Speaker, you bear everything with a smile , but something needs to be done with yesterday's speech (by Rahul Gandhi). Otherwise it will not be good for Parliament. There is a deeper conspiracy,” PM Modi said.

He also lashed out at the Congress for “hatching a conspiracy” against Hinduism and Hindu beliefs.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi's comment on 'violent Hindus', the Prime Minister said that for centuries to come, the country will neither forget nor forgive such adventurism. He also referred to the Congress leader's comment on 'fight against Shakti' and said which is the same party that coined the term “Hindu terror”, while its allies equated religion with dengue and malaria.

“Their entire ecosystem has made abusing Hinduism fashionable,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The Prime Minister also strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi's comments on Agniveers and spoke about how the Army remained deprived of basic facilities during the Congress government. “An attempt has been made to mislead the brave soldiers of the country about 'One rank, one pension' (OROP). Indira Gandhi abolished the OROP system in our country. For decades, Congress did not allow it to be implemented, but at the time of elections an attempt was made to deceive army commanders by showing them Rs 500 crore. On the other hand, the NDA government implemented the OROP,” PM Modi told the House.

He also said that reforms have been carried out at various levels to make the troops battle-ready.

Security dynamics have changed a lot in recent years, the Prime Minister said, highlighting the government's commitment to making the forces more tech-savvy. At the end of his marathon speech, the Prime Minister seemed visibly elated and also He showed it in his words.

“The truth cannot be demolished by rhetoric. Today I realized the power of truth, today I lived the power of truth," concluded Prime Minister Modi.
